Buses carrying 140 undocumented immigrants from a Texas Border Patrol Station were blocked and turned away today by angry demonstrators in Murrieta, Calif.

The protesters waved American flags and shouted, "We don't want you here!" and "Go home!"

About 100 protesters held signs that read, "Return to sender” and “STOP illegal immigration" (video below).

Some of the protesters even sat in front of the buses.

The buses were supposed to unload the undocumented immigrants at the Murrieta Border Patrol Station where they would be processed, reports the Associated Press.

Instead, the buses turned around and drove to a San Diego County processing center, noted DesertSun.com.

After being processed in San Diego, the undocumented immigrants will be taken bus stops and dropped off. They can then catch buses to wherever they want to go.

Texas Border Patrol processing centers have been overwhelmed by the recent flood of undocumented immigrants, so some were bused to the Murietta station and other stations.

Murrieta Mayor Alan Long claimed that the town is supposed to receive 140 immigrants every 72 hours for several weeks.

“This is a significant impact to our resources, but is well within the capacity of what we have here regionally,” Mayor Long told KTLA.

Border Crisis: How Will Turkey Support Over 1 Million Syrian Refugees?

$

As of June 2014, there are approximately 1 million Syrian refugees living in Turkey. Turkey, which is smaller in size than the state of Texas, shares a long border with Syria, much like Texas shares with Mexico.

In Syria, not just one generation, but many generations have been wiped out by the violence. People are starving, facing death, and they feel that they must escape the terror. Millions of people have fled Syria and while these refugees may be safe from President Bashar al-Assad's regime, which continues to drop barrels of bombs on civilians, now they face a new challenge: create a new life in a new country.

When the refugees first began to pour into Turkey's borders four years ago as the Syrian crisis began, Turkey set up government guest camps with sturdy housing, clean sidewalks and even satellite TV access. However, these camps could only house between 200,000 and 300,000 people. With the potential for thousands more refugees to arrive in Turkey in the next year, there are a lot of concerns about what to do with this new population of people that will likely never return to Syria.

Turkey never expected to deal with a refugee population this large. But now that Turkey has such a huge number of displaced people in its country, it will need to work hard to decide not only how to classify them, but also work on human securitization to educate, employ, house, and integrate the Syrian population, most of which do not speak Turkish, but rather Arabic.

During a recent media diplomacy trip to Turkey, I visited Kilis, which is a border town next to Syria. Kilis is approximately 120 kilometers from Aleppo, the capital and largest city in Syria. Kilis, which had been a small town of 90,000 until the thousands of Syrian refugees showed up, has been a challenging place for many refugees to find jobs.

The refugees are labeled as "guests" in Turkey, which means that they can't always work for pay even if they are highly skilled doctors, teachers and nurses. But given the need for these skills in these border towns, many are volunteering to educate Syrian kids and provide much needed medical assistance.

We traveled with a Turkish nonprofit working on the ground named Kimse Yok Mu to drop off boxes of food to several families living in makeshift tents and brick homes. This experience allowed us to get an inside view of the poverty that exists outside of the government camps: people without a country, without a stable home and who do not fit in anywhere in the Turkish system.

Ola, our Arabic translator, was a fellow refugee who happened to be an English teacher. She too had fled Syria, but because of her English skills she was able to get some paid work. Her priority she said was to teach Syrians English as it was the surest way to get employed.

Approximately 300 Syrian refugees come into Kilis on a daily basis. On the day of our visit, we saw a steady stream of women, children and men carrying suitcases across the border. Women in burqas traveled with suitcases above their heads under the heat of the summer sun until they could find a cab to take them to a new life and a new world.

We visited a nearby health clinic and met a man who had been shot while fighting Assad and was now paralyzed from the waist down. We also met a young boy, age 13, with a painted Free Syria flag on his arm, who had lost a foot after a bomb dropped on his house.

Toward the end of our day in Kilis, we made a final stop at the Kimse Yok Mu food distribution center where over 4,000 refugees came each day to get food. We put on bright orange volunteer jerseys to serve cooked bulgur wheat, pickled vegetable soup and bread.

After we finished serving, a group of women in burqas ran up to us. They began to yell at us in Arabic. I grabbed our translator, the indefatigable Ola, and asked her to help us understand.

The women want our help, she said.

They just got to Turkey yesterday from Syria.

They are angry. They want to know what is going to happen and who is going to fix this life they have suddenly been given.

We couldn't communicate with the women given we didn't know Arabic and they didn't know English. All we could do was try to show them that we cared and that we understood this was difficult and that we would try to share their stories with the world. If only we could tell them that the United States has given millions of dollars in aid to support Turkey and help the Syrians, perhaps they would have looked at us differently.

This is not supposed to be how anyone should have to live. And unfortunately, for the Syrian refugees, they are only at the beginning of a long, difficult journey.

For now, all we can do is to be a witness and ask the international community to recognize this crisis and support these refugees with aid, with jobs and with a promise of future stability.

Slut-Shaming for the Righteous

$

I suppose the good news is, more women are flocking to the Democratic party than ever before.

I suppose the good news is, the vast majority of young people -- who are, on the whole, always more progressive/less uptight than their elders -- are either completely repulsed, if not outright infuriated, by the idea that women's rights are still under such antiquated duress, as exemplified by how any half-brained company that happens to be owned by fundamentalist zealots can now deny vital health benefits to women (and only to women, tellingly), simply because the owners have a pinched, regressive view of God.

Did you know the owners of Hobby Lobby -- which, by the way, is one of the most depressing, third-rate retail dystopias you'll ever visit and you should avoid their stores at all costs, now more than ever -- did you know the owners, being evangelical billionaires, have spent hundreds of millions trying to turn the nation into a cluster of regressive, Bible-thumping literalist simpletons? True.

Did you know they have done this because, as history shows, basing a nation's core values on a childish reading of a violently outdated book written by highly neurotic old men many thousands of years ago has worked so well in the past? Also true. But never mind that now: The (potentially) good news is that sometimes, when a demoralizing shocker like the Hobby Lobby decision comes down the wire, the end result isn't always what you think. Sometimes the end result can, in fact, turn toward a powerful positive, a potent boomerang counter-effect in exactly the right direction. You think?

But wait, let's not be too quick to whistle past the cultural graveyard. It's downright appalling to learn that, in 2014, five out of the nine wisest legal minds in the land wouldn't laugh off a fundamentalist challenge to the Affordable Care Act's birth control mandate as blatantly offensive to the integrity of the modern era. The fact that we're still stuck with this old, male SCOTUS majority telling us that evangelical misreadings of the Bible trump modern science and basic women's health (not to mention how birth control coverage is actually great for business), well, it makes every woman I know cringe in deep cervical pain.

But as Amanda Marcotte over at Slate smartly points out, the Hobby Lobby decision is likely a short-lived victory indeed for the Christian Right. The extreme narrowness of the decision, which almost fetishistically focuses on sex (and which spawned a truly epic dissent from the awesome Ruth Bader Ginsberg), congeals the entirety of the Right's ideology around a single, panicky obsession: sexually active females.

Oh, Christians. Still with the vagina obsession? Could you be more predictable?

Put another way, by expending so much effort attacking women WRT a very narrow slice of the Affordable Care Act, the entire fundamentalist movement becomes even more trite, shrill and historically irrelevant. You can bet on it.

Don't believe me? Just observe how badly the Christian right lost the battle -- and soon the war -- over gay marriage, the defining cultural issue of the last 30 years, and perhaps the last core American civil liberty. The epic Prop 8 fight left the GOP's extremist base tattered, fragmented, furious that their leaders failed to stomp out the evil "gay agenda" (AKA "love").

To make amends and shore up the "angry bigot" vote, the GOP quickly made the (very bizarre) decision to jump back on the warpath against their once-timid old nemesis, an enemy that has now become, much to their confusion, the most potent foe imaginable: women.

Open threats to Planned Parenthood, forcing abortion clinics in numerous states to close, limiting access for the poor, forcing women in regressive (southern) states to go across state lines for abortion services, or resort to DIY abortions (already happening, in Texas)? The GOP has done it all. They've attacked Wendy Davis, savaged Hillary (eternally), mocked Sandra Fluke and openly hated upon, with all their might, Obama and his birth control mandate. Just for starters.

But here's the bottom line: It's a tactic, and a platform, that's as hostile as it is doomed. Here's why:

A concealed zippered pocket secures valuables and the low-profile cargo pockets have a hidden cell phone pocket. CMC Government Supply also carries the Phantom LT pants, one of the most popular and durable tactical pants available. These pants feature a gusseted crotch and articulated knees for comfort and flexibility. Like the shorts, the Phantom LT pants have a concealed zippered pocket and low-profile cargo pockets, as well as a stretch waistband and a higher rise in the back to provide proper fit.

Customers have rated these pants extremely well, commenting on their quality and workmanship. One customer said the thin and durable fabric washes wrinkle-free, doesn't shrink, and is perfect for warm weather. Another customer likes the Vertx pants more than other brands because the Phantom LT pants waistband has two sections of elastic, which expand enough for concealed carry. The customer also says the cargo pocket is well designed. "It's very low profile, not even noticeable because it's integral to the leg, not sewn onto the outside. Even the top flap is nearly invisible, with the edges sewn down, but it's easier access than other designs; no buttons to open or Velcro to rip; just hook the fingers under the flap and push down into the pocket. Plus each cargo pocket has another, smaller pocket inside for small items."

Liam Hemsworth and Woody Harrelson are close to signing on for Kieran Darcy-Smith's revenge Western ”By Way of Helena,” an individual familiar with the project tells TheWrap.

The “Hunger Games” co-stars will play foes in the 1880s set thriller from writer Matt Cook, which sees Hemsworth as David Kingston, a Texas Ranger sent to an isolated frontier town called Helena to investigate a series of bodies that keep washing up on its shores. Harrelson will play Abraham Brant, the town's preacher who has its citizens in a cult-like grasp.

*Also read:* ‘Hunger Games: Catching Fire': What's Next for Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth?

Filming is expected to begin in the fall, before Hemsworth and Harrelson begin their promotional duties for “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1,” in which they play Gale and Haymitch, respectively, opposite Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss.

“By Way of Helena” joins a growing list of movies in production that center around violent confrontations amongst dangerous characters in a Western setting. Quentin Tarantino's “The Hateful Eight” is probably the most high profile, but there's also Gavin O'Connor's “Jane Got a Gun” starring Natalie Portman awaiting release, Ti West's “In the Valley of Violence,” which is now filming, and Alejandro González Iñárritu's “The Revenant,” which is also aiming for a fall start.

2015 is definitely gearing up to be the year of the revenge Western.
