Fun and healthy way to spend Valentine's Day at a 1 & 5K run/walk in North Texas with your friends and loved ones.

McKinney, Texas (PRWEB) January 22, 2014

Everyone wants to live a fun and healthy lifestyle! Get Racing Events would like to help everyone keep their resolutions and create races that are fun, challenging and affordable. Get racing in one of our upcoming 1K, 5K, 10K, 15K's, or half marathon events or start training for our triathlon in May. Set a goal and go after it!

The year started off with the Resolution Run where the overall winners went home with beautiful trophies and all age group winners received medals. Matt Inch from Dallas won the 10K for the 2nd year in a row with a super fast time of 36:30. The next race in the series is the Cupid's 1 and 5K and Couples Run. There are no other races like it! Runners can participate by themselves (standard 5K) or they can "couple" up with a friend, child, husband, wife, etc. Any two people can be a considered a "couple."

Each couple's age group is determined by combining the ages of both participants. The couple does not have to run together, but both members must finish the race, and their times will be added together to determine their competing times. In the spirit of Valentine's Day and to keep things fun, runners are encouraged to dress up and wear costumes, and winners will receive medals as well as a box of chocolates!

Custom, long sleeve race shirts and finisher medals will be given to all participants. If your company is has started a fitness program for 2014, encourage co-workers to sign up for the race, too! A little friendly competition in the office will keep everyone motivated.

The following race is the Leaping Leprechauns 1, 5 and 15K. The 15K is a wonderful training race for any upcoming half marathons. Get Racing has added a half marathon in April, Trek the Trails Half and 5K. It is a "train-to" event for the Mayor's Health Partnership program and Live Healthy Texas, and benefits awareness for Pulmonary Fibrosis. This race will highlight the new scenic, paved trail in McKinney, the Wilson Creek Trail.

In May there are two events: Tri for Humanity, benefiting the Smiles Charity, which was chosen as the "Texas State Championship race for sprint triathlons", and the Stonebridge Memorial Day Race. The Memorial Day race is the oldest race in the series- now 14 years old!

Start celebrating July 4th at the Fireworks 1 and 5K and Run and Pump. The Run and Pump was added last year and was a huge success. Participants competed in the 5K and when they crossed the finish line they were required to bench press 80% of their body weight. For every rep they completed, 10 seconds was taken off of their 5K time. Adjusted times determined the winners.

In September, the Labor of Love Run takes place on Labor Day. This race benefits animal charities and of course, is very pet friendly too! The final two races in the series are the Halloween Hustle and the McKinney Mini Half and 5K. The Halloween Hustle is a 1, 5 and 15K two weeks before the Mini, which makes it a great training race for the half marathon 2 weeks later! The McKinney Mini was a first time event in 2013, and there were over 750 registered runners. This year we expect at least 1,000 entrants between the half, 5K and relay. All competitors will receive a race sweatshirt and finisher medals.

Get Racing Events are all professionally managed by an outgoing staff. They are all RFID timed by Race Chip Timing. The races cater to the very young and the very young at heart. They are family friendly as well as highly competitive races. Fun is just as important as safety in the race series. The continued support of all of our "regulars" in the community is greatly appreciated and we look forward to a happy, healthy and successful 2014. Now put on your running shoes and get racing.
