Jason Lewis to Lead Dallas White Collar Practice
DALLAS (PRWEB) February 12, 2014
Continuing its strategic growth in Texas, the international law firm Greenberg Traurig LLP has added a top-tier team of four attorneys with a focus on white collar and securities law to its Dallas office to further enhance its highly regarded litigation practice. The team will be led by former SEC Enforcement Attorney Jason Lewis, who joins as a shareholder and chair of the Dallas white collar practice. Securities litigator David Klaudt also joins as a shareholder. They are joined by associates Jason Hopkins and Adam Tyler. The team joins from Locke Lord, LLP where they worked together closely.
“Meeting client needs today means offering more than just numbers. It means offering key areas of practice in key markets with attorneys who are at the height of their careers and experience and who personify the concept that quality and value are not mutually exclusive,” said Richard A. Rosenbaum, Chief Executive Officer for Greenberg Traurig.
“Our team has an extensive history working in Texas and around the country at the highest levels of securities and white collar defense. Our clients expect high-level and effective representation and we are excited to join a firm that shares our vision and focus on quality and value, to best serve our clients’ expanding needs,” Lewis said. “With the heightened state of regulatory enforcement, our clients will greatly benefit from the expertise and breadth of Greenberg Traurig, not only in Texas, but nationally and globally.”
“The addition of this team is not only an opportunity for us, but also for our clients worldwide who expect a commitment that goes beyond how large a law firm is, or how many local attorneys it has. They know that there is little business that gets done today that does not require both local and global resources and experience that generates trust,” said Rosenbaum.
The firm recently celebrated its 10th anniversary in Texas, where it maintains a strong presence in Austin, Dallas and Houston with more than 100 attorneys there and approximately 1750 attorneys in a total of 29 markets in the U.S. as well as seven locations in Europe, the Middle East, Latin America and Asia. Elsewhere, the firm continues to attract top-level teams and individuals as part of its strategy to grow and bolster key areas of practice important to clients addressing the impact of global market issues, whether locally, regionally or internationally.
”This talented group of securities, white collar and business litigators is a great fit for the firm and for our Dallas office,” said Stephen C. Carlin, Greenberg Traurig Dallas managing shareholder. “We are excited to continue to grow our Texas litigation practice as we celebrate our tenth year in Dallas and in Texas.”
“Growth in Texas is a high priority for Greenberg Traurig,” said Douglas C. Atnipp, Greenberg Traurig co-regional operating shareholder for Texas. “We are thrilled to be able to attract such top-notch legal talent as Jason Lewis, David Klaudt, Jason Hopkins and Adam Tyler in today’s competitive Texas legal environment. They will surely enhance our already very strong litigation capabilities.”
With a team of more than 500 attorneys, Greenberg Traurig’s Litigation Practice offers firsthand experience and wide-ranging resources to protect clients’ interests in virtually every area of litigation.
Lewis, a former SEC Enforcement Attorney, has extensive experience with securities-related regulatory investigations and litigation, securities class actions, white collar defense, internal corporate investigations, and complex business disputes and litigation. Lewis regularly represents investment advisors, hedge funds, broker-dealers, issuers, professionals, public companies and their officers and directors in government investigations and litigation. Lewis received his J.D. from Cornell Law School and his B.A. from the University of Oklahoma.
Klaudt, a former federal prosecutor, represents corporations and individuals in complex civil and criminal cases and investigations. His experience includes securities class actions and derivative actions, asset forfeiture, healthcare fraud and government contract law. He served as a Judge Advocate in the U.S. Air Force and retired as a Lieutenant Colonel. Klaudt earned his J.D. from the University of Wisconsin Law School, his M.B.A. from California State University, Long Beach and his B.S. from the United States Air Force Academy.
Hopkins litigates securities matters and handles regulatory investigations. Hopkins also has substantial experience with financial services litigation, as well as government contract matters. Prior to law school, Hopkins served in the United States Marine Corps. He earned his J.D. from the College of William & Mary and his B.A. from the University of Mississippi.
Tyler concentrates his practice on the defense of government investigations, litigation, and administrative proceedings conducted by the Securities and Exchange Commission, the Department of Justice, and other state and federal government agencies. Tyler earned his J.D. from Indiana University Maurer School of Law and his B.A. from the University of Oklahoma.
In December, the firm grew both its IP/Technology Practice and its Texas platform with the addition of Weil Gotshal senior patent litigators Kevin Kudlac and Amber Lee Hagy as shareholders and attorney Rene Anthony Treviño as of counsel. Also joining in Texas earlier this month was Erika D. Benson in Austin. Benson joined as a shareholder in the Global Energy and Infrastructure Practice.
