Greg Abbott Ignores Racist Questions Ted Nugent
Texas gubernatorial candidate Greg Abbott (R) campaigned with NRA board member and ex-rock singer Ted Nugent this week, despite Nugent's numerous racist comments about black people and President Obama.
in January, Nugent referred to President Obama as a "subhuman mongrel," noted RawStory.com (video below).
Nugent also bragged in 1998 about the underage girls whom he had sex with in his rocker days.
Ironically, much of Abbott's campaign has focused on his record against sexual predators and protecting young girls, as attorney general.
Abbott was asked repeatedly by CNN today about Nugent and his racist remarks (video below).
Abbott ignored the questions about Nugent's racism and instead said, "Ted Nugent was a way to expose Wendy Davis for her flip-flopping on gun related issues."
When CNN pressed about Nugent's racist remarks, Abbott's campaign manager tried to cut off the interview.
According to the Dallas Morning News, Texas State Sen. Wendy Davis (D), who is running against Abbott, slammed him in a statement:
His values allow him to embrace an admitted predator who takes advantage of young girls, calls successful women vulgar and disgusting names, and demeans and degrades not just the women of Texas, but anyone who disagrees with his narrow-minded, disrespectful point of view. If this is Greg Abbott’s idea of good Texas values, it’s simply repulsive.
However, Sarah Palin praised Nugent and Abbott on her Facebook page:
Check the box for another good conservative – Greg Abbott for Governor of Texas. Like Katrina, Greg has overcome many personal obstacles and challenges, which have made him a believer in the power of liberty and the need to defend our freedoms from the overreach of an out-of-control federal government. If he is good enough for Ted Nugent, he is good enough for me!
