A Texas man shot a 3-year-old girl while she was sitting in her car seat during a road rage incident in East Houston Saturday night.
The girl’s parents saw a car ahead of them on Allen Genoa Road driving erratically, weaving back and forth around 10:30 p.m. and decided to pass it.
When they did, the driver of the car allegedly fired three shots into the air.
Both vehicles stopped at a red light and the driver fired several shots at the family’s SUV and sped away.
"There was a three-year-old in a carseat and apparently one of the bullets, I believe, grazed the right leg of the three-year-old female," South Houston Police Chief Herbert Gilbert told KTRK-TV.
The toddler was taken to Bayshore Hospital where she is in stable condition. She is expected to make a full recovery. Her parents were not injured in the attack.
Police believe the gunman was driving under the influence.
The incident comes days after a 42-year-old man died in Houston after a road rage altercation.
Derek Vincent Brown had a traffic accident with another male driver Tuesday. When Brown got out of his car to exchange insurance information, he got into a physical altercation with the other driver and a passenger in that car joined in. When paramedics arrived, they found Brown fatally injured. The Porter man was later pronounced dead at Ben Taub Hospital.
