Founder Todd Phillips will share progress report on providing clean water and the Gospel border-to-border in Liberia at gathering that will help non-profit meet its final fundraising goal.
Sulphur Springs, Texas (PRWEB) May 15, 2014
When The Last Well (TLW) started its mission to bring fresh water to and share the Gospel with all Liberians in 2008, founder and executive director Todd Phillips didn’t realize the size of the task, or if meeting the goal by 2020 was even achievable. Now, six years later, TLW is poised to not only complete its mission, but, if sufficient funds are received, do it ahead of time. Phillips will share more about TLW’s progress and the challenges that still lie ahead at the second annual Vision event on May 22.
Phillips gave a preview of what he will say that evening at Buffalo Creek Pavilion in Rockwall, Texas:
“When we started The Last Well our vision was clouded by inaccurate information, which limited our effectiveness in bringing fresh water and the Gospel to Liberia,” Phillips said. “Now we have a clearer picture of how many wells we need to dig and refurbish, which areas to focus on with our partners, and how much money we need.”
Since getting new and more accurate information from Liberia’s Water Point Atlas, TLW has issued new fundraising goals of $6.44 million for well-related expenses and $1.5 million for operations, to complete a further 2,800 new and rehabilitated wells. Phillips believes that donors who attend the Vision event can get TLW much closer to this fundraising total:
“With the generosity of each attendee, this year’s Vision event could raise all the funds we need to bring border-to-border fresh water and the message of Jesus Christ to Liberia,” Phillips said. “We’re thankful to be supported by such wonderful people, and look forward to seeing how God will continue to use them as a channel for his blessings.”
