Texas Adds More Jobs Than Any Other State in Country, EmploymentCrossing Finds 185,000 Jobs in State

EmploymentCrossing.com has also found Texas to be a leader in job creation in the country.

Texas continues to be the number one jobs creating state in the country. The Lone Star state has added 33,100 jobs in April, which brings the total to 326,100 for the last 12 months. The data is from the Texas Workforce Commission.

The state also has a lower unemployment rate compared to the national average. In April, the unemployment rate for Texas was 6.4 percent, while the national average was 7.5 percent.

Job aggregator website EmploymentCrossing.com has also been able to track down 185,000 jobs in Texas. The Dallas-Ft.Worth metro area continues to lead the state in job openings with almost 120,000 job openings.

The other top job locations in Texas are:

Arlington - 58,000 job openings

Houston - 51,000 job openings

Austin - 37,000 job openings

San Antonio - 33,000 job openings

The main jobs creator in Texas continues to be the healthcare sector with over 34,000 job openings. CEO Harrison Barnes of EmploymentCrossing is optimistic about the future of Texas. “Our data analysis shows that Texas has been among the top five states during the last 12 months in terms of job openings.”

The other nine top job-creating industries according to EmploymentCrossing data are:

Customer Service - 23,000 job openings

Information Technology - 19,000 job openings

Sales - 18,000 job openings

Retail - 14,000 job openings

Nursing - 14,000 job openings

Engineering - 13,000 job openings

Hospitality - 11,000 job openings

Bilingual - 9,000 job openings

Accounting- 9,000 job openings
