Texas Rep. Ralph Hall Accidentally Enjoys Himself At LGBT Event The oldest Congressman in the U.S. turned some heads last week when he got lost and found himself in a pretty ironic place.

Last Thursday, Ralph Hall, a 90-year-old representative from Texas and staunch supporter of traditional marriage, accidentally wandered into the Victory Fund Pride reception – an LGBT event near Capitol Hill.

As it turns out – possibly to Hall’s surprise - gay people aren’t so bad to have a drink with.  Hall, who thought he was at a party for a fellow GOP congressman, was seen enjoying a drink and casual conversation with several people at the party before realizing he was in the wrong place.

Hall eventually asked a question about the congressman whom he thought the party was for. After being told he was in the wrong place, he quickly left. Good thing, right? Wouldn’t want to be seen with those people for too long.

Several fundraiser attendees took to Twitter to discuss Hall’s puzzling appearance. Metro Weekly political editor Justin Snow was quick to point out that Hall probably didn’t realize where he was.

Hall acknowledged his mistake a few days later, admitting that he was a fish out of water at the event.

“At that moment I realized that this was not the reception I intended to attend, and I put down my glass, thanked the sponsor, and told him we would be leaving.

“Many of those in attendance probably were surprised to see me walk in, but were not surprised to see me leave quickly,” he said.
