With 97% of the State Considered in Drought Status, Texas Remains in One of Worst Droughts in History

Woodland Hills, CA (PRWEB) September 10, 2013

Infocast, the leading producer of business intelligence and networking events, is pleased to announce the inaugural Texas Water Summit. The event will take place in Austin, Texas, on November 13-15, 2013.

Water supplies are shrinking, even as water-intensive industries continue to grow rapidly. And the drought isn’t expected to be over any time soon – in fact, in the long term, it is only expected to become worse. The crisis in Texas is reaching critical proportions, especially as the population continues to grow even as the region is projected to become even drier.

According to the Texas Water Development Board, drought conditions continued to worsen across Texas over the past week and reservoir levels are at the lowest point in more than 20 years.

State and local governments are being prompted to move toward innovative water technologies and build new water-supply projects in order to fix or alleviate shortages. The industry is being pushed to find ways to conserve and reuse water wherever possible, as well as learning how to better allocate competing interests. A variety of projects are in development – converting brackish groundwater, desalinating seawater, tapping into saltwater aquifers and converting wastewater to drinking water – and more are being planned.

To provide a unique forum, focusing exclusively on the state and bringing together all the stakeholders invested in the future of Texas water, Infocast developed Texas Water Summit on November 13-15, 2013. This unique event will focus exclusively on the opportunities, funding, technologies and project development essential to moving the development of critically needed Texas water infrastructure forward.
